COVID Sub Proposition

Normally we leave the rule changes and amendments for the off season but with COVID we are in uncertain times and a discussion was had on pre designating subs for games that have been rescheduled due to COVID. (See Titians). We had a productive conversation last night and were able to talk through a lot of the key points.

Therefore a special session has been called and we have the following proposition on the voting table.

 PROPOSED AMENDMENT

For games that have been rescheduled to Monday or Tuesday due to a positive COVID test there would be an option to have a predesignated sub for the player effected by those games.

Example: Schwab has Derick Henry, the game has been rescheduled from Sunday to Tuesday. If a positive test pops up Monday at 9pm on the Titans and they don't play the game then Schwab (if he pre-designated prior to kickoff on Sunday @ 12:00 Central Time) would have the points from the sub override the 0 he would have received leaving Derick Henry in his lineup.

Key Stipulations and Requirements.

  • This would be STIRCTLY for COVID rescheduled games only that are taking place on Monday or Tuesday, not regularly scheduled MNF games.
  • This would be STRICTLY for COVID games NOT being played and not for players that are injured, questionable ect. If the game takes place and you player doesnt play, your sub is not eligible. (Ex, I cant put Cam Newton in my lineup and designate Drew Brees as by backup already knowing Cam has tested positive.)
  • Subs would be pre-designated on a google drive doc that would lock at noon on Sunday.
  • For the Sub to be eligible they have to have not already played (ie a Thursday Player)
  • The Sub must be on your roster. (seems obvious but needed to be said)
  • For the Sub rule to be in effect the announcement for the rescheduled game being canceled has to take place AFTER 12:00 Noon Central Time on Sunday. Anything prior to that you have time to hit the waiver wire for a sub.

Points made in favor of Proposed Amendment:

  • It would allow you to not get burned by a potential 0 on your roster due to a COVID game
  • It would act as a safety net in case a key game gets canceled

Points made opposing the Proposed Amendment:

  • We knew that COVID was going to be a factor in this season before we drafted, your team should be built accordingly.
  • We called an "All or Nothing" style year and already declined making IR Roster spots for COVID players or any COVID concessions prior to the start of the season, BE BETTER was the phrase used when this was brought up.

Any other discussion points in FAVOR or OPPOSITION make a comment on this post. Voting on the matter will take place this evening and a poll will be created at tonight at 9:30PM Central Time.

Games won’t be canceled 5 minutes before kickoff. We all have smart phones. We will know if games are canceled/postponed before noon on Sunday. If I keep Henry in my lineup, knowing there is a chance they don’t play at all, thats on me for not replacing him and I would deserve that 0.

This gets approved then we’ll probably have someone like Sombke proposing we have a flex sub spot to go in the lineup if someone gets hurt in the first half.
